TOTAL’S FPSO FOR $16BN EGINA FIELD TO ARRIVE NIGERIA APRIL 2017

The 200,000 barrels per day capacity Floating Production Storage Offloading (FPSO) vessel for Total’s $16 billion Egina deepwater field will arrive Nigeria in March or April 2017, the company has said.

The FPSO is being built by Samsung Heavy Industries of Korea at a cost of $3.3 billion, while the entire Egina field development project, including the FPSO will cost $16 billion.

SAMSUNG, NLNG TRAIN MORE NIGERIANS AS SHIP BUILDERS

Samsung Heavy industries Nigeria, in partnership with the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas, has sent over 60 Nigerian youths for training at the SHI shipyard in Geoje, South Korea.

 

This is coming barely one month after the company trained about 57 Nigerians who were certified as shipbuilders and other aspects of ship development.

EGINA FPSO CONTRACT: COURT TO HEAR CONTEMPT PROCEEDING MARCH 27

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has fixed March 27, 2015 to hear the contempt proceedings initiated against Samsung Heavy Industry Nigeria Limited and Total Upstream Nigeria Ltd, over their alleged disobedience of an order of the court that parties in the controversial floating production storage and offloading unit in Egina Field within OML 130 contract should maintain the status-quo.

 Defendants in the suit are the Attorney General of the Federation; National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NPIMS), Nigerian Content Development Monitoring Board (NCDMB) Samsung Heavy Industry and Total Upstream.

SAMSUNG, TOTAL DISOBEYING COURT ORDER, PLAINTIFF TELLS COURT

A lawyer and plaintiff in the suit against Samsung Heavy Industry Nigeria Limited and others, Mr. John Owubokiri, has told a Federal High Court, Lagos, that Samsung and Total Upstream Nigeria Ltd were still working on the multi-million dollar contract for the controversial storage and offloading unit FPSO in Egina Field within OML 130, despite an order of the court for parties to maintain status quo.

NNPC, SAMSUNG, TOTAL IN FRESH ROW OVER $3.3BN EGINA PROJECT

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Samsung Heavy Industries Nigeria Limited and Total Upstream Nigeria (TUPNI) Limited are heading for a collision over the demand by Samsung to raise the cost of the $3.3 billion Egina project, THISDAY has learnt.

FPSO PROJECT DELAY WON’T AFFECT COST –SAMSUNG

Samsung Heavy Industries Nigeria Limited has said despite the delay of the in-country facility development of the Egina Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading project, there would not be any change in the overall cost of the project.

A ground breaking ceremony for the start of construction of major infrastructural development associated with the project, took place at the Lagos Deep Offshore Logistics on Friday. The modules built in Nigeria will be integrated into the FPSO in 2017.

SAMSUNG EXPLAINS ROLE IN EGINA FPSO PROJECT

Samsung Heavy Industries Nigeria Limited has said that the Egina FPSO project was awarded to it alone by Total Upstream Nigeria, and was never at any time jointly awarded to it (Samsung) and any other organisation.

The firm, in a letter made available to our correspondent, maintained that there was in place, a valid and subsisting contract between it and Total, as far as the Egina FPSO project was concerned.
