IN line with the Federal Government’s agenda to institute a gas revolution industrial park at Ogidigben, Delta State, Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has commenced negotiation with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) on modalities to adopt for a successful land reclamation exercise.
The park, which is proposed to be Africa’s largest gas city, is scheduled to comprise fertilizer, methanol, petrochemical and power plants, with other support offices and residential facilities.

LACK OF SUPPORT BY LABOUR STALLS REFINERIES' SALE
The Federal Government may have slowed down the process of selling the nation’s refineries following its failure to secure the support of labour unions.
The government had in 2013 announced plans to sell the nation’s four refineries. The refineries are the Port Harcourt Refining Company Limited I and II; Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company Limited; and Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company Limited.

FUEL SCARCITY: NNPC PROMISES IMPROVED SUPPLY
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, at the weekend promised improved fuel supply to the system as the current fuel crisis worsened across the country. .
NNPC said it is injecting about 688 million of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, into the market. Due to the crisis, motorists had to resort to the black market, where roadside petrol sellers now sell the commodity for as high as N250 per litre.

OIL FIRMS BEGIN JOB CUTS
Oil companies have begun downsizing in a process that will see them sacrificing many of their non-technical staff.
The International Oil Companies (IOCs) such as Shell, Chevron, ExxonMobil, Total and EniSPA and their local counterparts have over 10, 000 non-technical staff in their services that may be affected in the restructuring of their operations.

OSAGIE ASSUMES OFFICE AS SHELL MD
The newly named Managing Director for Shell Petroleum Development Company, Mr. Osagie Okunbor, has assumed office, succeeding Mr. Mutiu Sunmonu, who retired on Saturday after 36 years of service.Okunbor’s appointment was announced in January while he was serving as a Senior Advisor in Shell’s Upstream International Operated business in The Hague, the Netherlands.

ALISON-MADUEKE, HOUSE TO SQUARE OFF OVER NLNG $14.9BN REMITTANCE TO NNPC
A fresh feud may be brewing between the House of Representatives and the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke.
It was learnt that the minister, who had employed the courts to quash a House probe into her alleged use of $10 billion to hire jets, may also use the same method to block the legislators’ scrutiny of the $14.9 billion paid into the account of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) by the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG).

LADOL BOSS ALLAYS FEARS OVER MULTIBILLION NAIRA EGINA PROJECT
The Managing Director of the Lagos Deep Offshore Logistics base (LADOL), Dr. Amy Jadesimi has allayed fears over the execution of the multibillion naira Egina project.
She said although the oil price fall portends danger for the economy, Nigeria’s fledging logistics sector may not be affected.
