NNPC RECORDS 1,447 PIPELINE VANDALISM CASES IN FIVE MONTHS

The activities of pipeline vandals and oil thieves are taking a toll on the operations of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation as the oil firm suffered 1,447 incidents of pipeline breaches between January and May 2016.

The Group Managing Director, NNPC, Dr. Maikanti Baru, who disclosed this during a visit to the Commandant-General, Nigerian Security Civil Defense Corps, Abudullahi Muhammadu, at the corps headquarters in, also said the corporation lost 560,000 barrels of crude meant for the refineries, as well as feedstock and 109 million litres of petroleum products, within the same period.

PH, WARRI REFINERIES NOW PRODUCING PETROL – KACHIKWU

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, has announced that the Port Harcourt Refining Company and the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company are now producing a combined volume of seven million litres of petrol daily.

 

According to him, the PHRC now produces five million litres of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly known as petrol, while the WRPC produces two million litres of the product daily.

22 MODULAR REFINERIES TO PRODUCE 1.429MBPD

Nigeria’s quest for domestic fuel sufficiency may have been given a lift with the award of 22 licences for modular refineries to private individuals.

The refineries have combined capacities of 1.429 million barrels per day, mbpd. Efforts to boost domestic refining capacity through other alternatives like modular refining, follows the inability of the nation’s five refineries, with combined capacity of 446,000bpd to meet daily national requirement of 40 million litres per day.

OIL WORKERS, MARKETERS TANGLING OVER REFINERIES’ SALE

Good news came from the four refineries in Nigeria last Tuesday: the installation gave the country a cumulative fuel supply of 6.76 million litres at a time the Africa’s biggest crude exporter was battling with fuel scarcity.

Before this, the oil workers and independent marketers had bickered over how to sell the refineries. This is not the first time that the proposed sale of refineries would generate controversy between the workers and marketers even as the duo appear set to quash any impediment on the way of their positions.

REFINERIES TO RAMP UP PRODUCTION TO OVER 10M LITRES MONTH END

Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has announced that the nation’s three refineries in Kaduna, Port Harcourt and Warri have attained a combined daily production of over 6.76 million litres of petrol per day. This is projected to increase to over 10 million litres per day by the end of January.

P’HARCOURT REFINERIES TO PRODUCE 5M LTRS OF PETROL DAILY

Fresh moves by the Federal Government and other stakeholders to end the current fuel scarcity in the country may have begun, with plans by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to activate five million litres of petrol daily from the two refineries in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Besides, some oil marketers have resumed importation of petrol into the country, with Nigerian Independent Petroleum Company (NIPCO) discharging about 37 million litres of the commodity at a Lagos jetty at the weekend.

NNPC LOSES N50B PETROL TO THIEVES

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) yesterday said 531 million litres of petrol, valued at over N50 billion was lost to pipeline vandals between January and September.

This occured at the problematic System 2B Pipeline network which stretches from the Atlas Cove in Lagos to Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

DPR SEALS NNPC, FORTE OIL, 12 OTHER PETROL STATIONS

The Department of Petroleum Resources on Friday stormed several filling stations at Ikorodu, Ibeju-Lekki and Ketu, in Lagos, shutting down 14 stations for manipulating their dispensing pumps and over-charging buyers, among other offences.

 

While all the affected stations had N87 per litre on their pumps as the selling price, the pumps were under-dispensing Premium Motor Spirit, also known as petrol, with almost one litre lost by buyers for every 10 litres bought.

NIGERIA NETS N66.13B FROM PETROLEUM PRODUCTS EXPORT

TheNigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has disclosed that the Pipelines and Product Marketing Company (PPMC) exported 634.89 million litres of Low Pour Fuel Oil (LPFO) and Naphtha worth about N66.13 billion in 2014.

The figure however, represents over 50 per cent decline from the N116.67 billion it recorded in the previous year.

NNPC SAYS THERE'S ENOUGH PETROL

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Tuesday said it had stepped up efforts to maintain stability in the supply and distribution of petroleum products nationwide.

The corporation disclosed in statement that it has enough stock of petrol to service the country for 25 days at a national consumption rate of 40 million litres per day even as it has stepped up product distribution to petroleum marketers and NNPC retail outlets across the country.

TALEVERAS WINDS DOWN DUKE/NNPC OIL SWAP ARRANGEMENT

Taleveras group a leading Nigerian oil trading and integrated energy solutions provider says it has begun to wind down the oil swap arrangement it entered into with Duke Oil incorporated on behalf of the NNPC.

 

This comes as 138 million litres of petrol has arrived Lagos ports which is expected to ease the ongoing shortages of the product.

NNPC RECEIVES 720 DRUMS OF STOLEN PMS

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has handed over 20 drums containing 250 litres each and 700 kegs, each containing 30 litres of Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS), to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

The Lagos State Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the NSCDC, Assistant Superintendent Mefor Chibuzor, said in a statement yesterday that the products were recovered from suspected oil pipeline vandals on the high sea at Iwoko, Adjido, Ebute Olofin area of Badagry Local Government between July and October.
