The House of
Representatives, yesterday, warned oil companies operating in the Niger Delta
region against continuous flaring of gas estimated at over $5 billion yearly
from over 257 flow stations, saying it had subjected the lives of residents in
the area to serious health hazards.

NLNG BURDENED BY DOUBLE TAX, PIPELINE SECURITY ISSUES
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria LNG
Limited, Tony Attah, has listed the challenges confronting the company to
include operations of multiple regulatory agencies, pipeline security issues,
and double taxation. Speaking during an oversight visit by the Senate Committee
on Gas to the NLNG facility in Bonny, Atah disclosed that there were 19
recorded pipeline disruptions this year alone.

NO MORE ANNUAL ALLOCATIONS TO DPR
President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the retention of four per cent of royalties on oil and gas concessions and other revenues as the cost of collection by the Department of Petroleum Resources, investigation has shown.

This means that the agency will retain four per cent of the total revenue it collects on behalf of the Federal Government and the other two tiers of government every month rather than depend on budgetary provisions for its operations.

FG TASKS OIL INDUSTRY OPERATORS ON OIL SPILL
The Federal Government has urged oil and gas companies
operating in Nigeria to partner with it towards eradicating oil spillage and
its harmful effect on the environment.The Minister of Environment, Mrs. Lawrencia Mallam, called for the partnership during the inauguration and handover ceremony of the Geographic Information System laboratory stationed at the headquarters of National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency in Abuja.
She said operators in the sector must join hands with the
government to ensure safe and cleaner environment.
