NOSDRA THREATENS TO SANCTION SHELL OVER $3B FINE ON OIL SPILL

THE National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA) has threatened to sanction the Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo), for failure to pay $3.6 bilion fine for damages to the livelihood of host communities through its massive oil spill.
The oil spill monitoring agency alleged that SNEPCO spilled about 40,000 barrels of crude oil from its Bonga oil field due to technical failures but failed to clean up within the stipulated period by the law.

HOST COMMUNITY SHUTS SHELL GAS PLANT, DEMANDS ELECTRICITY SUPPLY

Indigenes of Koroama community, which is host to Shell’s Gbarain-Ubie Integrated Gas Plant in Bayelsa State have shut down operations at the gas field and are demanding electricity supply from the power plant component of the facility.

MART RESOURCES, PARTNERS LOSE 73,000 BARRELS ON AGIP PIPELINE

Mart Resources and its co-venturers - Midwestern Oil & Gas Company Limited and SunTrust Oil Company Limited have provided updates on Umusadege field production for May 2015, where the partners lost 73, 040 barrels of oil equivalent per day (bopd) on the Umugini pipeline and the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) pipeline.

MASSIVE OIL SPILL OCCURS AT SHELL'S CRUDE PIPELINE IN BAYELSA

A massive oil spill has occurred on a pipeline belonging to the Shell Petroleum Development Company (Shell) in the Kolo Creek oil field operation in Bayelsa State a company official has confirmed.

Mr. Joseph Obari, SPDC spokesman, on Wednesday stated that the oil giant would react to the development in due course, even as he refused to explain the cause of the spill.

SAHARA GROUP ADVANCES ACTIVITY ON OIL BLOCK OPL 274

Sahara Group’s Upstream Company said it is making good progress with its activities in oil prospecting lease (OPL) 274, an asset it has a 100 per cent working interest. It is also pressing forward to optimise opportunities in the block where it has achieved first oil.

The firm last year doubled its certified Proved plus Probable (2P) reserves in the Oki-Oziengbe South field in Edo State, making a new commercial discovery with the Oluegi-1 exploration well.

SHELL RESUMES PRODUCTION FROM EA FIELD

Five months after suspending crude oil production at the EA field, Royal Dutch Shell said on Thursday that it had resumed production at the field and lifted its force majeure on the grade after completing repairs to a mooring platform.

Out of a production capacity of 115,000 barrels per day, 40,000 bpd was shut-in, Shell petroleum Development Company said in June when the field was closed

LAGOS TO JOIN OIL PRODUCING STATES IN 2015

Lagos State is set to join the league of oil producing states in the country come next year as the joint venture partners on the Aje Field offshore Lagos have taken the final investment decision on the exploration of the field.

A group led by Yinka Folawiyo Petroleum Company Limited took the FID to develop the first phase of the Aje shallow water oil field for $220m.
