OPEC DAILY BASKET PRICE CLOSE AT $60.68/B

The price of OPEC basket of twelve crudes stood at 60.68 dollars a barrel on Wednesday, compared with $59.96 the previous day, according to OPEC Secretariat calculations.

The new OPEC Reference Basket of Crudes (ORB) is made up of the following: Saharan Blend (Algeria), Girassol (Angola), Oriente (Ecuador), Iran Heavy (Islamic Republic of Iran), Basra Light (Iraq), Kuwait Export (Kuwait), Es Sider (Libya), Bonny Light (Nigeria), Qatar Marine (Qatar), Arab Light (Saudi Arabia), Murban (UAE) and Merey (Venezuela).

NIGERIA DISPLACES S'ARABIA AS INDIA'S TOP OIL SUPPLIER

Group Managing Director, NNPC, Dr. Joseph DawhaNigeria, Africa’s top oil producer, last month overtook Saudi Arabia as India’s top oil supplier for the first time in at least four years, according to ship tracking data compiled.
 
Indian refiners are said to be switching from long-term contracts with Middle East suppliers to cheaper African crudes through spot market.

ENI TO CUT SPENDING AS CRUDE PRICES FALL

Eni, the Italian oil and gas group, is to cut capital spending this year in response to the collapse in crude prices, reporting on Wednesday a one-third slide in operating profits in the fourth quarter of last year.
 
Adding to the list of big energy companies hit by a near 50 per cent slide in the price of oil since last summer, the company said adjusted operating profit fell 33.8 per cent to €2.3bn in the last three months of 2014 from the same period the previous year, although that was better than analysts’ estimates it would be down to €1.9bn.

FG SLASHES 2015 BUDGET OIL BENCHMARK PRICE TO $65PB
The Federal Government has slashed the 2015 budget oil benchmark price from $73 to $65 per barrel because of the continued fall of oil prices at the global market.

The price of Brent crashed from $71 to $69.92 per barrel yesterday, while that of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC, basket of 12 crudes stood at $67.31 per barrel compared with $68.13 the previous day, according to OPEC Secretariat calculations.
