OIL PRICE HITS ONE-YEAR HIGH AT $53

Global oil benchmark, Brent, jumped to a one-year high on Monday, after Russia said it was ready to join the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries in curbing crude output.
 
The oil price has risen from $45 on September 28 when OPEC decided to cut output for the first time in eight years.

CRUDE OIL PRICES HIT FOUR-MONTH HIGH ON OPEC SPECULATION

Crude Oil ProductionCrude oil prices rose yesterday, with Brent hitting four-month highs on a rally inspired by Organisation Of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) plans to tighten output before pulling back as a surging dollar weighed on greenback-denominated commodities.

Specifically, Brent crude was up 13 cents at $51.02 a barrel by yesterday. It rose to $51.37 at the session peak and its highest since June 10. Earlier, Brent fell to $50.34. after settling on Monday at $50.89.

CRUDE OIL PRICES RISE AS OPEC PLANS OUTPUT CUT

OPEC President, Dr Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Sada. PHOTO: youtube.com.Crude oil prices moved up by six per cent yesterday following the decision by the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) to cut production in an attempt to curtail glut.

Specifically, Brent crude oil traded for $49.34 per barrel while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) rose to $47.89 a barrel.This is a significant improvement from the $40 per barrel, for which it was sold a few weeks ago due to persistent global glut.

OIL PRICES UP 2% AFTER THIRD SURPRISE WEEKLY US CRUDE DROP

The prices of crude oil in the international market rose by two per cent yesterday after a surprise drop in crude stockpiles reported by the United States Government for a third week in a row.
 
Brent crude futures were up 1.8 per cent wednesday to settle at $46.68 per barrel after it had risen more than $1.20 at the session high.

OIL FALLS BELOW $50 ON NIGERIA, IRAQ SUPPLY BOOST

crude oilInternational oil benchmark, Brent crude, retreated on Monday, falling below the $50 per barrel mark on worries about growing Chinese fuel exports, more Iraqi and Nigerian crude shipments and a rising US oil rig count.
 
China’s July diesel and gasoline exports soared 181.8 per cent and 145.2 per cent respectively from the same month last year, putting pressure on refined product margins, Reuters reports.

OIL PRICE HITS $50, HIGHEST IN EIGHT WEEKS

Brent, against which half of the world’s oil is priced, rose by $0.84 to $50.69 per barrel as of 7:58pm Nigerian time.

CRUDE OIL PRICES HIT OVER 5-WEEK HIGHS, BRENT SELLS AT $48.81

The prices of crude oil in the international market yesterday reached their highest levels in more than five weeks due to heightened speculation that the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) would embark on output cuts to prop up prices.

According to Reuters, the global benchmark, Brent crude futures, yesterday hit a high of $48.81 per barrel, their highest since July 7, while the United States West Texas Intermediate crude reached $46.21 per barrel, its highest since July 15, before easing to $45.94 per barrel.

CRUDE OIL PRICES HIT $50.23 A BARREL

crude oilCrude oil prices bounced back to above $50 a barrel as militants continue to carry out their threats against Nigeria’s export pipelines and oil wells in the Niger Delta.

At the early trading hours on Monday, Brent crude futures were up by 59 cents at $50.23 a barrel while the U.S. crude futures were up by 57 cents at $49.19 a barrel.

OIL HITS 2016 HIGH DUE TO FALLING OUTPUT, WEAKER DOLLAR

Oil hit its highest level wednesday driven by a falling dollar and evidence of declining United States supply, putting the price on course for its strongest monthly performance since last April, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) has said.
 
Brent crude futures were up with $1.03 at $46.77 a barrel in early trading, having risen nearly 20 per cent in April, their largest one-month gain in a year.

CRUDE PRICES HIT $46 A BARREL RECORD-YEAR HIGH

crude oilCrude oil prices hit a year-record high of $46 a barrel yesterday, giving Nigeria a buffer of $8 over its $38 a barrel 2016 budget benchmark, a feat, which it has not attained since January.

Specifically, Brent crude rose by 77 cents from a session low this morning to hit $46 a barrel by 7.50am UK time, while the US, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures were up by 19 cents from $43.62 to $44.37 a barrel.

OIL RISES TO 2016 HIGH ON SUPPLY DISRUPTIONS, US GASOLINE DEMAND

Brent oil price shot to a 2016 high of $45.45 a barrel in late trading yesterday in a week that has seen disruptions in Nigeria and Kuwait, according to wire services monitored by BusinessDay. A note by Goldman Sachs late yesterday said the market appeared to have shrugged off negative sentiments.

U.S. MAY RAISE SHALE PRODUCTION OVER RALLYING OIL PRICES

The Brent crude rose to $41.39 a barrel yesterday from 40 a barrel on Monday.

OIL PRICES HIT 2016 HIGH, RISE ABOVE $40/BL

The price of Brent crude monday rose for the sixth consecutive trading day in a row, hitting a 2016 peak of over $40 a barrel, as buyers were encouraged by talk that the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) was targeting a higher anchor price after a sell-off that has lasted nearly two years.
 
The rise in oil prices coincided with comments by the President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, who advised Nigerians to stop viewing the low oil price environment as a setback, saying that the situation offers the nation an opportunity to diversify its revenue base.

OIL PRICES SLIDE ON STRONGER DOLLAR, SUPPLY CONCERNS

Falling-oil-pricesCrude oil prices recorded losses yesterday after witnessing a little boost at the later part of last week.

A barrel of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) recorded a 2.69 per cent loss at $30.89 while global benchmark – Brent crude oil was down by 1.17 per cent to $34.06 as at yesterday, against $34.14 it traded on Friday.

CRUDE OIL PRICES SLIDE AS HOPES OF PRODUCTION CUT DIM

West Texas Intermediated (WTI) crude oil declined by 6.33 per cent at $31.62 a barrel and Brent fell by 0.14 per cent to $34.69 a barrel as hopes for a deal on production did not scale through.

Russia had last week sent mixed signals about possible cooperation with Organisation of Petroleum Corporation (OPEC) to support prices. It first suggested it should start talking to the cartel before saying there was no decision to do so.

OIL TRADES NEAR THREE-MONTH LOW AS EXCESS SUPPLY TAKES TOLL

Brent crude oil futures traded near three-month lows on Friday as the pressure of a persistent supply glut quashed any optimism about a price recovery. An early rally in Brent crude proved difficult to sustain, as focus returned to an overhang that has cut prices by more than 10 percent this month.

NIGERIA’S LIGHT SWEET CRUDE PRICE FALLS TO $46.32 A BARREL

crude-oil-CopyThe price of Nigeria’s sweet crude, yesterday, fell to $46.32 per barrel against $47.17 a barrel it was offered in the market on Wednesday. Also, the global benchmark, Brent crude oil fell from $50.54 per barrel to $48.58 a barrel as at yesterday.

Besides, multinational oil and gas companies recorded revenue drop in their respective third quarter operations due to the declining crude oil prices.

OIL PRICE UP AS US PRODUCTION BEGIN TO COLLAPSE, STOCKPILE ALSO DOWN

U.S. crude stocks decreased by 1.2 million barrels last week while distillate stockpiles also fell, data from industry group the American Petroleum Institute (API) showed. [API/S] The figures suggest U.S. oil production, particularly from shale, is beginning to decline in response to the collapse in prices over the last year.

NIGERIAN CRUDE MAY SEE RESURGENCE IN US MARKET

CRUDE-OILNigeria’s crude oil may enjoy a resurgence in the United States as many analysts believe it is well suited to meet a current gap in the market created by lower production of shale oil.

SweetcrudeReports had reported last week that Nigerian crude appears to be enjoying a little respite lately as the Brent/WTI crude futures’ spread narrows, and arbitrage opportunities are beginning to open up for Nigerian crude to head trans-Atlantic, with a few cargoes said to be heading to US refineries, trading sources said.

WITH OIL AT SIX-YEAR LOW, CRUDE EXPORTERS, FIRMS DOWNSIZE

160912F.Crude-oil-barrels.jpg - 160912F.Crude-oil-barrels.jpgOther than Nigeria’s plummeting finances, oil companies in the country's oil and gas sector, as is the case with oil producers worldwide, have been forced to scale down on investments, slash their budgets and lay off staff as plunging oil prices takes a toll on crude oil exporting countries and industry operators.

Brent sold at $45.54 Tuesday afternoon, down 20 cents but still some way from its 2015 low of $45.19, while US crude futures hit an intraday low of $41.43 - close to their lowest since early 2009 - before picking up when they traded at yesterday's close price of $41.87 a barrel.
