Despite the uncertainty in the international oil market, the global merger and acquisition activities (M&A) in the first 10 months of 2014 increased by 23 per cent to hit $173 billion, according to analysis from information and insight provider.
It noted that debt-laden oil and gas upstream companies that are not well-hedged could increasingly become takeover targets in 2015.
