FIRMS BAG $30MN OFFSHORE CONTRACTS FROM SHELL, ENI

An international oil service firm, Ceona has been awarded two new SURF (subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines) contracts in Nigeria along with its local strategic partner Marine Platforms Limited (MPL).

The contracts, which are worth a total of more than $30 million, will see Ceona providing vessels from its first-class fleet together with its installation expertise on the ENI NAE (Nigerian Agip Exploration Limited) ABO12 well completion, as well as supporting MPL on the Sea Eagle FPSO for Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC).

ELAND OIL RESUMES PRODUCTION ON NIGERIA’S OPUAMA FIELD

Eland Oil and Gas Plc, the oil and gas exploration and development company with a focus on Nigeria and West Africa, has resumed production on the Opuama field in Oil Mining Lease (OML) 40, after a number of production interruptions, including a prolonged shutdown of the Forcados Export Terminal and pipeline ruptures due to corrosion and illegal bunkering.

The company had resumed production on the field in February 2014, exactly seven years after Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) undertook a controlled shut down of its oil and gas facilities, including OML 40, due to militant attacks on oil workers and infrastructure in the Niger Delta.

NNPC, SHELL, CHEVRON PAY FINES OVER GAS SUPPLY FAILURE

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) and Chevron Nigeria Limited, owners of N-Gas, the main supplier of gas to Ghana’s Volta River Authority (VRA), through the West African Gas Pipeline (WAGP) are paying a fine of $20 million for failure to meet their contractual obligations on gas supply to the Ghana’s electricity producing company.

N-gas, a company jointly-owned by Shell, Chevron and the NNPC, buys gas from oil companies in Nigeria and transport the gas to its customers in Benin, Togo and Ghana, through the $1 billion WAGP, which is operated by the West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo)
