SHELL CONFIRMS LEAK FROM UNDERWATER FACILITY

Shell Petroleum Development Company has confirmed an oil leak incident from its underwater line within its oil fields in Bayelsa State.
 
The company said in a statement on Thursday by its spokesperson, Mr. Joseph Obari, that the leakage was reported on January 23, 2015, and led to the subsequent shutting of the facility.
 
A site visit, however, showed that residual leak from the Seibou Deep facility operated by SPDC had been discharging crude into Ogboinbiri River.

Environmentalists Berate Agip Over Oil Spill

Environmental Rights Action/Friends of the Earth Nigeria (ERA/FoEN), has berated Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) for poor response to a reported oil spill incident at the oil firm’s field in Bayelsa State.

ERA/FoEN, an environmental rights group, in its field report on the oil spill incident dated January 28 and made available to newsmen noted that the spill occurred on January 12.

TOTAL TO SIGN DEALS WITH USAN FIELD BUYERS

In furtherance of the sale of its 20 per cent stake in Nigeria’s Usan deepwater oil field located in the Oil Mining Lease 138, French oil major Total says it is expecting to sign confidentiality agreements with about a dozen prospective buyers.

TOTAL RESUMES $2.5BN USAN DEEPWATER OIL BLOCK SALE

France’s Total SA, Europe’s second largest oil company, has put one of its offshore Nigerian oil fields up for sale for the second time, the company said, after a 2012 deal with Sinopec Corp of China failed.

Total has hired BNP Paribas to find buyers for its Usan deepwater oil field located in Oil Mining Lease (OML) 138, which could be worth about $2.5 billion, according to sources familiar with the matter.
