MINING LEASE: COALITION PETITIONS EFCC OVER MOBIL'S $600M OIL DEAL

Civil Society Network Against Corruption (CSNAC), a coalition of over 150 anti-corruption organizations has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) demanding an investigation into a $USD600million deal that resulted in the renewal of three oil mining leases ( OMLs 67, 68 and 70) for Mobil Producing Nigeria.

EFCC RE-ARRAIGNS ARISEKOLA’S SON OVER N2.6BN SUBSIDY FRAUD

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has further amended the charges it filed against the son of late Ibadan business magnate, Alao Arisekola, Abdullahi, over alleged fuel subsidy fraud.

In the latest amended charge read to Alao and his company, Axenergy, on Wednesday, the accused were said to have allegedly obtained a sum of N2.6bn from the Federal Government under false pretence.

EFCC TO INVESTIGATE DIEZANI, AGF OVER NON-REMITTANCE OF OIL REVENUES

A federal high court sitting in Abuja has been asked to order the Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC) to investigate the minister of petroleum, Mrs. Deziani Allison-Madueke and the attorney-general of the federation, Mr Mohammed Adoke over alleged illegal deals in the Nigerian oil sector.


The plaintiff in the matter, Comrade Timi Frank, told the court that by section 7 of the EFCC Act, the commission is empowered to cause an investigation to be conducted as to whether any person, corporate body or organisation has committed an offence under its act or other laws relating to economic and financial crimes.

EFCC RECOVERS N5B FROM FUEL SUBSIDY SCAMMERS

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), said it has so far recovered about N5 billion from persons and organisations indicted in the fuel subsidy probe, which began over two years ago.

Spokesman to the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren said in a statement Monday that while this amount has been recovered for the government, investigations are still ongoing on the 13 oil subsidy cases that are being prosecuted. These cases, according to him, involve individuals as well as corporate bodies.
