BAYELSA GOVT ORDERS AGIP TO SHUT DOWN FACILITY OVER SPILL

Following an oil spillage in its facilities in Ayarabele and Kalaba communities in the Orkordia Clan of Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa, the state government has ordered the closure of an oil facility belonging to the Nigeria AGIP Oil Company, a subsidiary of the Italian oil giant, ENI Spa.

The state government in a statement by the Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Inuro Wills, stated that the decision to order the closure was based on the need to allow a special investigative team to tackle the spill from the facility
